Die Hard

Welcome to the party, pal! That's right, this week we're continuing our coverage of Christmas movies where tough cookies take on loads and loads of baddies with the 1988 action classic of all action classics: DIE HARD. There's a lot of praise to be sung for how this film has endured, how it's changed the face of the action genre, and for how impeccably it is constructed. But there's also quite a bit to be said about how effectively the film lands to modern sensibilities, especially when considering the ways it criticizes opportunism, and heralds the influence and agency of a thoughtful individual.
