Scrooged
Happy Christmas and Merry Holidays to one and all! We are starting a new tradition here at the Fear of God this week by taking a look -- hopefully each new year to come -- at one of the many adaptations of Charles Dickens' beloved classic, A Christmas Carol. This week, we tackle the 1988 rendition directed by Richard Donner, scored by Danny Elfman, and starring Bill Murray: SCROOGED.
Scrooged gets quite a few bonus points for being different and has several notable production elements, but some head-scratching sensibilities and an unfortunate approach by Bill Murray to the Scrooge character make for some uneven returns. Nonetheless, the film still bears some potent reminders about how we can better approach who we wish we could be.
Also featuring a Patron-Only segment where Nathan and Reed discuss recent awards contenders, we hope you enjoy this week's episode!
