Nosferatu (2024)
We've come to the conclusion of another year. And as we do, we also conclude our mini-series covering the three distinct versions of Nosferatu. First, we covered the original silent F. W. Murnau film from 1922, then the Werner Herzog directed remake from 1979. This week, we dive into visionary director Robert Eggers' take on the gothic horror tale. Atmospheric and saturated with ominous shadows, Eggers lends his unique sensibilities (bolstered by two powerhouse performances from Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgard) to make this tale as haunting as possible. He also layers in some new thematic shades than we've seen before (particularly revolving around the character of Ellen) and amplifies the terror evoked from the character of Count Orlok.
We explore all this and more, along with a Patron-only segment which includes our thoughts on recent awards contenders Anora, A Complete Unknown, and Sing Sing. We hope you all have enjoyed this year's episodes and we hope you have a safe happy New Year!
